Barbecue Ribs with Skillet Cornbread

  • As the meat falls off the bone and the Mesa Reserve Syrah spills out of your glass, you’ll find this pairing is worth saving for a special occasion or for making any night special. 

    Serves 2-3 people

    Ingredients

    BBQ Ribs
    • 1 lb. (4-5) All Beef Ribs
    • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
    • 1 c BBQ sauce
    • 1 orange, juiced
    • Salt & Pepper, to taste
    Skillet Cornbread
    • 1 c. Whole Wheat Flour
    • 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
    • 1 Tbsp Sugar
    • 1 c Cornmeal
    • 1 egg
    • 1 c Greek yogurt
    • 1/4 c Butter
    Instructions
    1. Preheat the oven to 325 F. 
    2. Mix garlic powder, bbq sauce, orange juice, and salt & pepper. Rub onto ribs. 
    3. Place into pan and cover with tin foil. 
    4. Cook in oven for a hour & a half. 
    5. While ribs are cooking, shift the dry ingredients together (flour, salt, baking powder, & sugar), then whisk in cornmeal. 
    6. Add egg, yogurt, & butter. Mix until smooth. 
    7. After ribs are removed the first time. Increase temperature to 425 F. Let ribs sit covered. 
    8. Grease pan or cooking pot & fill with mixture.
    9. Bake for 20-25 mins.
    10. Remove cornbread & set oven to low broil. 
    11. Cook ribs for 7 mins. then remove.
    12. Plate, pour your glass of Mesa Reserve, & enjoy!
